Ms. Lucille Alfonso
Ms. Alfonso has been with the St. Bernard Parish Public Schools since 1993. She taught one year in third grade and twenty years in 4th grade. Ms. Alfonso has been a librarian for the past nine years. She is a native of St. Bernard Parish. As a child she enjoyed swimming in the bayou at Delacroix Island and climbing trees. She attended elementary school at Sebastian Roy and graduated high school at PGT Beauregard. She attended St. Bernard Parish Community College and transferred to Our Lady of Holy Cross College where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. In 2012, she earned her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Orleans. She has been a nationally certified teacher since 2008.
She enjoys reading and art. Flowers and paintings make her happy. She is learning to water color. Her favorite subjects to teach were math and science because the students had fun doing hands on activities. If you were to walk into her science class, it would not be unusual to observe students engaged in experiments that combine math and science. Today she teaches library science. She is in charge of the Accelerated Reader Program at Chalmette Elementary and enjoys student excitement as they move through the various point clubs.
